The beauty of a good onboarding process...

There is little else as satisfying in HR as an effective, exciting onboarding process.

Effective onboarding can be the difference between capturing instant engagement and establishing a sense of disorganisation or detachment from the start. In other words, not how you want to welcome your employees into their new role.

A good onboarding system can help reduce the paperwork and pre-prepare your employees for their first day. When done well, your new hires should start work armed with company knowledge (both cultural and logistical) and have most of the boring admin out of the way. They can also be made to feel like a valued member of the team, have any security or login access assigned, and have some of the unknowns taken out of the ‘first day’.

Here’s a couple of things you may want to watch out for when looking for a new onboarding tool:

·      A user-friendly interface

A good system will be simple enough to use with no explanation and no training.

·      Easy Integration

Consider your volume. If you are in an environment where there is high volume recruitment, or a high turnover, the chosen tool should integrate straight into your current system or at least, have the ability to import and export data.

·      Mobile friendly

Make sure that the tool plays well with mobile. Your new hires will get frustrated and may opt out of the process if they can’t access the content at their fingertips.
